How to Go Viral Using Twitter

Viral marketing in the information age is one of the most potent ways to get customers and potential sales.  In the world of traffic and search engine rankings, you want to make sure that you make this particular aspect a part of the plan.  Not only will it give you more opportunities for sales, but will also help you to save on the advertising costs.  Using Twitter for this can then provide you with the best opportunities for growth.

There are two types of people that you want to influence when you decide to go for a viral marketing campaign.  Both of these types of people are considered networkers.  Their main focus in life is to influence people by word of mouth.  The first level of these individuals is very picky in what they decide to tell others and will usually only rely on high class products.  There aren’t a lot of these individuals and most aren’t seen in public.  The second are common folk networkers, and always want to be on the cutting edge of telling you what is hot and what is not.  The first step to going viral is to find those who want to tell others the spicy news about the latest product.

Once you start to find those who can Tweet for you, then you can begin your viral campaign.  Of course, you want to have something to go viral about.  A free e-book, coupons for your site, products that are note worthy and services that are out of this world are some of the options.  Getting creative at this point will most likely grab more attention.

After you have something to talk about, then you want to make sure you find those word of mouth people that are waiting to tell their friends the great news.  Once you start spreading the word to them about how awesome your products are, you can leave the rest to them.  You want to make sure you ask for Tweets and re-tweets and will want to be continuous in putting up new updates about your product.  It will also help to have a group or to send direct messages to make sure you target those who are interested in word of mouth advertising.

In little to no time, you will see the magical increase in traffic and in potential sales, as well as search engine rankings (yes, it works).  Not only can you use these techniques for a short period of time, but can keep it going.  Once you have the followers, they will most likely want to spread the word about something new that you have to offer – especially if the first concept you gave out was incredibly cool.
