One of my favorite hobbies is to browse through the Internet to see what others are looking for. What are the services businesses are desperate for and what do they latch to that will state they will succeed? Of course, many of you know the fads that are going right now and how they can be legitimate or not. However, there is a difference between the services that are needed to get top ranking and the idea of being SEO hungry.
Achieving top ranking through SEO on your site as well as by leveraging social media networks isn’t enough. Sorry. I hate to break your heart. But, there are a lot of businesses and individuals that have said to me at one time or another – I want to be number one in Google. Will you Tweet for me? While this is definitely helpful, it’s not the complete package.
One of the best pieces of advice I ever received about Internet marketing was that you have to look at it like it lives in its own virtual reality. Just like a brick and mortar business, it requires more than a Tweet or two. In fact, you have to strategically think and plan out your marketing to make sure that you can achieve the results that you want. The difference with the Internet is that there are several layers and ways that you can do this to receive the best results.
If you are SEO hungry, or even hungry for a bird from Twitter, then you are stopping yourself short of achieving the rankings that you desire. Instead, feel free to take a step back and find out where your niches are. And always remember, strategy first means less work later.
